Carefree Office Technology Blog
Welcome to my blog at Carefreeoffice.com. My intention is that here, on occasion, I'll post some tidbit of information related to the great big world of office imaging or maybe a helpful "Technical Tip" on how to get the most from your paper-producing armada of printers, copiers, multifunction systems & scanners. I offer my advance apology for any other random thoughts appearing here.
Copier at end-of-lease?
Written by Chris Jones Thursday, December 15, 2011 12:49
Time to lease or purchase a new copier? -- Despite changing business demands, many organizations turn to the same vendors contract after contract. Frequently, these vendors suggest deployment of newer versions of equipment with similar technology, in essense maintaining the status quo for another contracting cycle. However, taking a strategic approach to these activities can result in significant savings. My Favorite Movie of the Last Ten Years
Written by Chris Jones Tuesday, November 08, 2011 14:51
The Best Movie for Families (and especially Fathers) is at theatres now- It's called "COURAGEOUS" and I highly recommend it for the whole family (maybe 8 and older). But hurry, because it likley won't be at theaters long as all good spiritually-based films seem to have short showings these days (think "Soul Surfer"). Plenty of cop excitement for the teenage boys (mine are 14 and 17 and they loved it) and lots for the girls and moms to like too. A real Life-Changer movie! Rated PG. See a review here and don't miss this movie:

HP Printer Support: Avoiding a Printer Service Call for Paper Jams
Written by Chris Jones Thursday, October 27, 2011 13:40
HP Printer Support: Avoiding a Printer Service Call for Paper Jams- One of the most common HP printer problems in the popular Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4200, 4300, 4250, 4350, P4015, P4515, and the P3005 series of printers is that the adjustable guides in the paper trays are not set correctly for the size of paper being used. If the paper is not getting pulled up and out of the paper tray and into the printer, then this is most likely your problem. You need to check and set both the side & the rear guides to match the paper size that you're using. Pull out all of the paper and look at the bottom of the tray to examine the adjustable guides to make sure they are in the correct position for your paper. If you still have paper input jams after following this advice, give us a call or send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It's not a good thing when a printer manufacturer tries to keep end-users from utilizing lower cost compatible toner supplies...See how Lexmark has the U.S. Int'l Trade Commission fighting this battle for it: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-international-trade-commission-rules-in-lexmarks-favor-2011-09-30?reflink=MW_news_stmp

As an information technology professional for a busy organization with 40 laser printers I don’t have time to deal with printer problems. My staff considers Carefree to be a vital partner – our “laser printer helpdesk” if you will. The Carefree technicians are fast to respond onsite for repair service and are very experienced. They always arrive with needed parts so they can fix the printer in just one visit. We really appreciate the ability to place a service call through their website too!
